Dianna Grace Gay

May 28, 1940 - June 6, 2015

Shiner, TX Dianna Grace Gay of Shiner, Texas, formerly of Lyford, Texas, was welcomed by her loving Father into heaven Friday, June 6, 2015. Douglas Gay, her adoring husband and best friend of 39 years was waiting her arrival. Dianna was mother to four children, Tony (Joy) Smyrson of Elgin, Texas; Teresa (Bob) Webster of Jackson, Tennessee; Nina (Macy) McCorkle of Shiner, Texas; Leslie (Mary Jane) Gay of Beeville, Texas. She was Granny to TJ Smyrson; Mason, Clayton (Kat) and Amy McCorkle and Micah, Morgan, Mackenzie Webster (Jonathan Huff). Other family members left with fond and tender memories of Dianna are her mother, Evelyn Grace Stanick of Longview, Texas; James (Wanda) Gillit of Gladewater, Texas; Vickie (Marc) Fassnacht of Snohomish, Washington and Ricky (Deb) Gillit of Sommerville, Texas. Dianna lived a life of service to her family and others. She was a member of Lyford’s First Baptist Church where she was active until her relocation to Shiner, Texas in 2011. As a parent, she volunteered and supported numerous organizations. When her daughters were young, she was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. As her children entered high school, she was a booster parent for the Lyford High School band, helped with the Stillman 4-H Club and supported the Lyford High School FFA. Dianna was a talented seamstress and craftswoman. In recent months, she had been welcomed into a new group of friends who shared a passion for dancing to country western and polka music. Dianna had a passion for bowling and fishing. She was a member of many winning local league and state teams. She bowled her last game Monday, May 4, 2015 for a 1st place league team in Victoria, Texas. When she left this earth, she still had a shirt on her sewing machine and many unfinished craft projects. Dianna was preceded in death by her father; James T Gillit. Family will receive visitors 6 – 8 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Duddlesten Funeral Home in Raymondville, Texas. Funeral services celebrating Dianna’s life will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 7873 Gulf Ave., Lyford, Texas. Interment will follow in the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery. The family requests memorials may be made to the Frist Baptist Church, P.O. Drawer G, Lyford, Texas 78569 or to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 W. Hidalgo, Raymondville, Texas.
